Des Moines OKs portable toilets for Occupy protesters
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Occupy Iowa protesters are continuing to set up camp in Iowa City's College Green Park and now the city has decided to make their stay a bit more comfortable.
The city has approved a request to put portable toilets in the park.
KCRG-TV says (http://Songshari.blogspot.com ) the city won't pay for the portable toilets but will allow protesters to put them in the park.
Occupy Iowa is an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement that started last month in New York City to protest corporate greed and the growing gap between rich and poor.
City officials say they have not received any complaints about the protesters.
Activists say the protest has evolved from a gathering to a local movement. Some say they won't leave until there is a resolution.
